Rob's Guide

One of the most important things to do on these older vehicles is to make sure that your radiator hoses are in good condition. Autozone has the best information on how to check and install a radiator hose.

Here is a video that shows how to inspect a radiator.

Rob's Guide

My name is Rob. I am a 23 year old grad student. I have lived on campus of my university all 5 years of my undergraduate life. As an incentive for graduating my parents promised me that they would purchase a new car as my reward for my hard work. Gas prices, inflation and the cost of living all raised and my parents were unable to fulfill their commitment. So I was looking to purchase a vehicle and didn't know where to start. I had no credit, I lived in a dorm,no job I just had steady loan money comming in. I couldn't get financed for a late model vehicle. I desperately needed transoportation so I purchased a late model vehicle. I figured that there are others in the very same situation. That is why I have created this gude.

The First thing you need to do is analyze your situation:

Are you looking to pay the full amount or to make monthly payments?

What is your credit score?

What is your monthly income?

If you are unable to get approved on the terms that you want a viable option is to to a smaller car lot and pplace a small down payment on a high milage vehicle. But before you purchase your vehicle you need to do three things when inspecting your vehicle: Look, Listen, Smell, Feel.

Look Listen Smell Feel
Under hood Knocks,Squeals,Inconsisant Rythms Gas,Oil Brake Reaction
Fluid Levels Steering wheel while turning Exaust, burning smell How well it shifts gears
Belts Sounds at Startup Antifreeze Radiator hoses

This is the introduction the next post will be on how to change or repair an alternator.
