Alternator vs Batteries

Rob's Guide

If your car is not starting it is probably 1 of 3 things: A Bad Battery, Loose Battery Cables, or a bad Alternator. To save money, you can check your battery cables by simply lifting the hood and getting and using a ratchet and a socket unconnect the battery cable and see if there is any corrosion. If so, get a wire brush remove corrosion and lubricate the cables with a light coat of Petrolium Jelly. Place the cables back on the battery and try to turn on the car again. <br>

If that is notth e problem, you can always go to Autozone and they will test you battery and alternator for free. Hopefully the problem is the battery. Batteries are easy to install, alternators not so much. Below are videos of how to replace both a battery  and and alternator. This will save money by not having a mechanic do it. Always if you are not comfortable go to a mechanic that you trust.

Honestly Ashley, there are several female mechanics, and there are several men who don't know anything about cars. If you feel comfortable with working on cars you can do anything. Some people are very surprised to find out the things they do when they have to do it.
